TPSAB1, also known as tryptase alpha/beta 1 is an enzyme called serine protease that is found in mast cells in quantities. It plays a role, in both inflammation and the innate immune systems defence against parasites. As a serine protease enzyme TPSAB1 has the ability to directly break down components, on the surface of parasites or cleave host proteins to activate immune pathways.
