Quantifoil UltrAuFoil® Holey Gold Films

Specially developed for cryo electron microscopy, these ultra-stable gold supports consist of a 500Å thick layer of gold foil with a regular array of micrometer sized holes, suspended across square gold mesh. This reduces movement of frozen sections during imaging under the electron beam, resulting in improved image contrast and better 3D reconstructions from less data.
