WHEATLEY PLASTICS ANNOUNCE SUPPORTED CHARITY FOR 2013/2014
17-02-2014
Relationships are a key value of Wheatley Plastics. Our sixty years of manufacturing excellence is built on relationships with our clients, suppliers and employees. This year our ambition is to give something back to our local community, so we have decided to do this by adopting a local charity. Hopefully with our support we can help make a real difference. We soon realised there was a very worthwhile charity right on our doorstep, in fact they are our next door neighbour!
Wheatley Plastics are proud to announce our support for the Newbridge Lane Centre and SK30+ services, run by the Together Trust. They provide community day support for adults aged 18 to 30 years with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, complex health needs and autism. SK30+ provides a similar service for those aged over 30 years.
Wheatley Plastics is proud to be raising awareness for such a great cause and will be hosting various events throughout 2013/2014. To kick start the fundraising, Managing Director, Gary Knight, will be lacing up his running shoes once again and taking part in the 2013 Manchester Marathon. Gary commented, “I ran the London Marathon in 2009 for the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society (SANDS) and we have managed to raise over £23000 for them over the years. Last year in horrific weather conditions I managed to complete the Manchester Marathon, and help us smash through out fundraising target of £2000 for ‘When you Wish Upon A star’! Yes, Insanity has once again prevailed, and I’ll be running the 2013 Manchester Marathon. I hope to get us well on our way to our £3000 target set for the ‘Together Trust.’ It’s a fantastic and extremely worthy cause – This year I’ll be planning to be beat my previous time of 3:41:23, hopefully the weather will be kinder this year!!
We have several other events organised for this year, which include, Robert Davenport and Kevin Boden taking part in a skydive and we will also putting a team together for the ‘It’s a Knockout’ challenge at the Together Trust Summer fair.
As well as fundraising, we will supporting The Together Trust in other ways. Our Community Impact Day, which involves employees taking time out from their usual working duties and helping with various projects around the Newbridge Lane Centre. Our first task is to give the Newbridge Garden a much needed make over. Over the next few months we will be posting photos of the team in action and giving updates of how the make over is progressing.
Quality Manager, Sue Thistleton, commented, “As a long established local business, I think it is important to give back to our local community. Our community impact day is a new, exciting project which I’m sure will be very rewarding for all involved.”
We will post regular updates as we complete activities and challenges and we are sure that with our fantastic network of Customers, Suppliers and friends we will achieve our target to raise as much as possible over the next two years for this charity.
